Our Story

Roberts Environmental Control Corp. was founded by Jim and Bob Wasniewski with a simple but powerful mission: to deliver intelligent, reliable, and forward-thinking mechanical systems for commercial and industrial facilities.
Our roots go back to 1949, when Leo Wasniewski founded Roberts Refrigeration to install and service refrigeration and heating equipment. In 1973, James and Robert Wasniewski joined the business and incorporated it as Roberts Environmental Control Corporation.
What began as a family-driven operation has grown into one of Illinois' most trusted full-service mechanical contractors, specializing in HVAC, piping, sheet metal, controls, test and balance, and comprehensive service and maintenance.
In January 2025, Cory Wasniewski stepped into the role of President, continuing the family legacy while pushing the company forward into new markets including Ohio and New Mexico.

Starting in the 1970s with a small refrigeration service business, Jim grew Roberts from a one-man operation into a respected name in commercial and industrial mechanical contracting. That focus on technical excellence, client trust, and steady leadership continues to shape the business.
Under Cory Wasniewski's leadership, Roberts continues to invest in fabrication, service systems, and new markets while staying grounded in strong union partnerships and pride in craft.
